Tansen is a hill station, a town, head quarter of Palpa District. the western part of Nepal Beautiful mountains surrounds it. is just a three hours drive from the domestic airport, Bhairahawa. The climate here is the most pleasant throughout the year. You can enjoy the view of the Himalayas from Shreenagar hill. Palpa Tansen is one of the Nepal's most beautiful places.

Spring and autumn are the two most favorable seasons for visiting and volunteering here. Autumn starts from early September to early December and brings in clear weather to view the Himalayans with sunny days and warm nights. Whereas spring starts from the beginning of March to the end of May with occasional rain falls. From June to September, is the monsoon season but not much too hot. Beginning of April to the end of October is warm in Tansen and warm cloths are needed from last of October. You need Jackets in the evening. Winter season starts from December to February. One must be equipped with sufficient winter wears like jackets, sweaters, trousers etc to stay prevented from the cold.You can also buy clothes here as your needs .
VISA and Fee: Except Indian nationals all others must need valid visa. They can also be obtained at the entry points. It can be extended at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu and Pokhara. The Children under 10 years of age do not need to pay any visa fee. If you wish to get entry Visa at the Immigration office or border of the land, same procedures as in airport are required. Visa Fee for tourists, single entry- US$ 30 for up to 60 days. Multiple entries- US$ 50 + US$ 30 You can subsequently extend your Visa for 30 days each time upon payment of US$ 30 for about 5 times. Need to know: For the volunteers, the food will be provided by host family as we mentioned in our volunteer page.
If you wish to stay with Nepalese family, you will be provided simple furnished room. The toilet must be shared with family members. Transport in Nepal is very cheap, you can even hire a taxi with cheap price. The public transport is also very cheap compared to developed countries but you might feel uncomfortable and untimely.
