Nepal is a landlocked Himalayan country in
South Asia, bordered by China to the north and
by India to the south, east and west. Nepali
landscape is ranging from the humid plain area
in the south to the Himalayas in the north.
Nepal has eight of the world's top ten highest
peaks with Mount Everest as the highest one.
Nepal is famous for tourism and trekking,
Himalayas run across the northern part of the
country. Kathmandu is the capital and largest
city, although Nepal
is a relatively small country. The currency of
Nepal
is the Nepalese Rupee (NPR).
Nepali culture is very similar to the cultures
of Tibet, and India, which borders to the north
and south. There are similarities in clothing,
language and food. Most of the time meals
consist of a dish called dhal-bhat-tarkari that
is a combination of lentil soup, rice served
with vegetables curry, and some spicy relish.
Between these main meals, snacks such as chiura
(beaten rice) and tea are consumed. Apart with
main meal, meat, eggs, and fish are considered a
treat. In the mountainous region the staple diet
are based on wheat, maize, millet and potatoes.
Nepalese are great goodies and their food
varieties are hot, spicy and nutritious.
Nepalese style of cooking has been influenced by
Indian and Tibetan.
Culture of different ethnic groups is rich in
their own ways. Nepal has many customs and
beliefs that might be difficult to understand
and not so easy to obey but this is the way of
life for us and you will enjoy it when you are
in our territory. Many houses in rural parts of
Nepal
are made up of stones and clay. These dwellings
remain cool in summers and retain warmth in the
winter. Dwellings at higher altitudes are mostly
timber-based. Nowadays we can see the cemented
houses in the cities. Nepal is a country of
highly diverse and rich geography, culture, and
religions. The small mountain kingdom of Nepal
is blessed with cultural heritage. This
multi-dimensional cultural and ethnic, tribes
and social groups inhabiting different
altitudes, and it manifests in various forms
like music and dance; art and craft; languages,
literature and festivals.
Nepal experiences seasons generally predictable
and pleasant. There are four climatic seasons:
summer, monsoon, autumn, winter and spring.
Spring: March-May, Summer+ monsoon: June-August,
Autumn: September-November, Winter:
December-February. The monsoon is approximately
from the end of June to the middle of September.
About 80 per cent of the rain falls during the
monsoon, so the remainder of the year is almost
dry.
Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons;
winter temperatures drop to freezing
with a high level of snowfall in the mountains.
Summer and late spring temperatures range
from 28ºC (83ºF) in the hill regions to more
than 40ºC (104ºF) in the Terai.
Nepal harbors one of the world's best habitats for one
horned rhino, tiger, leopard, blue-sheep and yak
on mountain region. Other wildlife includes wild
elephant, buffaloes, bear, Leopard, crocodiles
and residential birds. It is particularly true
in history of
Nepal where every aspect of life, food, clothing
and even occupations are culturally classified
Nepali people are among the most hospitable
people. This is the reason for which many
visitors come here from all over the world and
enjoy Nepal culture and hospitality. Almost all
of these ethnic groups have their own languages.
Nepali is the major language of the country. It
is also the official language of Nepal.
