What past volunteers have said about Tansen Palpa,

The climate and scenery of Tansen was wonderful. Waking up with beautiful sunrises to hiking through the peaceful forest of Shreenagar hill up to the Himalayas viewpoints, Tansen felt like a sanctuary from the rest of the world. Definitely one of the best places for enjoying the outdoors in Nepal.

Meet our past volunteers from around the world

“You are my sister.” This is what Dhana said to me the day I first met her in Tansen, Nepal. And she, Carina and Birkha at once made me feel like part of the family and an honored guest during my homestay. They looked after all my needs from cooking to laundry to caring for me when I was ill. The volunteer opportunities I was given through Rescue Mission were carefully selected to meet local needs while fitting my skills, knowledge and interests. I was given a glimpse of what life is like for some Nepali people- difficult struggles contrasted with great kindness and beauty. When I chose Rescue Mission, my hope was that, through the grassroots organization, I would be able to promote change in the community. The reality is, after spending my time in Tansen with the Birkha’s family and working with the school children and the families in the Nutrition Program, I was the one who was changed. I received far more than I gave in the short amount of time I was there and I will be forever grateful to Birkha, Dhana and Carina for their guidance, friendship and love, and I am visiting Tansen again in 2012.

See what past volunteers have said about their experience

Staying with Rescue Mission Nepal has been a great experience. The landscape is beautiful and Tansen is a great town. Birkha and Dhana (his wife) are amazing hosts and worked very hard to make sure I was comfortable. Dhana is an excellent cook. The church community is very welcoming. There's plenty of work to do with the disabled children. The disabled children were the highlight of my stay. I also helped teach English in a local school (grades 1-12). That was really fun since the kids and teachers were very happy to have a English speaking person there.

Our jungle camp would be located with spectacular views of the panoramic himalayas view from a hill, sunrise on the mountains and sunset the panoramic views of the landscapes and hills. You can breathe the cool mountain breeze in our camp site jungle or riverside. Our Jungle camp Cottage (tent) is one of those options which provide more of services and maximum of adventure for our guest and volunteers( we do this only for group). the cottages camp offer the same view point experience to our guests, but at a lower budget. Our camp would be located far from town and traffic and closer to nature than any other noisy, so our guests volunteers can relax from sunrise to sunset accompanied by the music of the local birds and gentle sigh of the forest and river.
